Eleven Alpha and Omega prayer team members together with four South Africa-based priests (left to right above), Fr Patrick Dladla, Fr Colin Bowes, Fr Andrew Thomo and Fr George Okwii, visited the Zomba Diocese in Malawi this weekend from 25 to 27 October under the invitation of Fr Lucius Chikwawa, the Chaplain of the local Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement group. With the blessings of Bishop George Tambala of the Zomba Diocese and Auxiliary Bishop Duncan Tsoke of the Johannesburg Diocese, three days of seminars were held, both in a local church and the cathedral.

On Friday, 25 October, a small-group healing seminar was held for the local Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement group (CCR) at Zomba’s Sacred Heart Parish, which served as a preparation for the two healing seminars that were held at the Zomba Cathedral on 26 and 27 October. Each of the one-day seminars were attended by approximately 1,500 people. The teachings were led by Alpha and Omega Mission representative, Charles Pritchard, with input and insight from Jesus’ messenger for his Second Coming Fernanda de Sequeira. Both local and invitational priests assisted throughout the day in hearing Confessions, while bishop-appointed exorcist priest Fr Colin Bowes and the Alpha and Omega prayer team prayed over all who attended. The CCR team served as valuable support in translating from English to Chichewa.

Sarah Brooks and Nancy Kaphagawani were the key Malawian contacts who organised and made the seminars possible. In Nancy’s words, “We thank God for the successful seminar where approximately 3000 people were healed and delivered. We thank the Alpha and Omega team for the seminar and sponsoring the event. We thank Sarah for connecting us to Alpha and Omega team. We thank the Bishop of Zomba Diocese, our Sacred Heart parish priest, Fr Ignatius Suwedi, and the Chaplain of CCR, Fr Lucius Chikwawa. We thank the Catholic Charismatic group and their praise and worship team too.”

Throughout the day the presence of the Holy Spirit was evident, with beautiful praise and worship songs amidst the teachings, Confessions and prayer overs.
